I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was taken aback by the many
dictionary definitions of the word 'bar'.

Counting the sub-defintions:
Noun (25 + 1); Verb (9); Preposition (1); Abbreviation (4); Misc others (2)

Challenge: Words with meanings greater than > (26+9+1+4+2)

"Set" and "run" are often suggested. In M-W, "set" has

25 transitive verb

11 intransitive verb

24 noun

7 adjective

That's just the numbered definitions, without "a" and "b".
