Does anyone out there know the meaning and/or origin of the expression
"Come Day, Go Day"? I assume it's origin is Celtic, but what exactly
does it mean? Thanks in advance !!

I've always assumed it just means "the days pass by". (Here comes
a new day; there it goes.)

I'm not familiar with it at all. It's in the _Oxford Dictionary of
English Proverbs_, so that suggests it's not Celtic. The first listing
is in Draxe 1616, which was itself a collection of English proverbs.

The 1721 citation says "Spoken to lazy, unconscionable Servants, who
only mind to serve out their Time, and get their Wages." In that entry,
it was recorded as "Come day, go day, God send Sunday."

Reminds me of one of my fave songs - Whiskey on a Sunday.

Come day, go day
Wish in my heart it were Sunday
Drinking buttermilk thru the week
Whiskey on a Sunday

Lovely melody for the chorus.
