A says: Well, they sure gave you some sweet job.
B replies: Better than some.
A says: Carrying a busload of hate is not my idea of better than
anything.

Is A saying it is better than few things or it is better than nothing?

What does 'it is not my idea of better than anything' mean?

I think it could be understood in two ways:
a) It is not the best
b) It is the worst

"Few" suggests not many? To all intents and purposes almost nothing?

That narrows it down a bit.

"It is better than few things", spoken with the right
emphasis, might mean "Sans Pareil", but that didn't make
it through the Rainhill Trials:

Neither. He's saying there is no worse job.
